The Best For Last

For those of you that would like some intensely attractive picture frame ideas, I’ve got just the ticket. I’m going to lay out 2 ideas that are easily modifiable, so you can feel free to change up the procedure any way you want and probably still end up with a great looking final piece. The first idea involves the use of a single picture, blown up to a size greater than the size of the picture frame you’re designing. First, get a very high quality and high shine printout of an image you’d like to use as the picture frame. I like to use images of the Arctic since they are usually white and very high contrast against dark images that are set into the frame. Once you have this high quality picture printed out on paper, place it over top of the frame in question. At this point, you will want to mark the areas where the frame and picture match up. Now take the photo off the frame and cut out the frame’s outline. You will be left with an image that is continuous and unimpaired around the frame, but the center of the image is gone. This may sound farfetched but it actually works very well and creates a brilliant contrasting effect when done right. The last one I did of this sort was using that Arctic background I discussed and a picture of my car against a dark woods background. It was one of the most beautiful frames I’ve ever made. The next idea is not much more difficult than the last, but will also need some effort. Have you ever came across a song that gets stuck in your head? That is a rhetorical question…of course you have! Simply find the lyrics of that song, choose you’re favorite 4 lines that are consecutive (usually the chorus) and print them out. The type size must be large enough to be readable but also little enough to fit one line on each side. You will most likely need different font sizes for each side of the picture frame, but this will make it look more unbalanced and bespoke. I made a picture frame using the lyrics from “Avicii - Fade Into Darkness” and it turned out great, my friends compliment it all the time and call me an “avicii fanboy”…whatever that is! Now take these picture frame ideas and create your own wonderful works of art! Remember, everything worthwhile takes time to create so don’t rush. Also, don’t forget to add your own personal effect to everything you create!

More Ideas!

In this article, I’m going to look at picture frame ideas that require a little bit more effort. It’s not that these are more difficult by any means, they just require that you put your mind to it and take the time to correctly complete them. Without doing it 100% correctly, you may end up with a very ugly picture frame (just kidding)! Who knows though, you could end up with a memorable new idea…in that case let me know of your awesome new picture frame idea in a comment! All that aside, it’s time to get started. First thing is first you’re going to need at least 4 completely unique colors of paint, preferably in large paint buckets. For the first picture frame, you can use an 8 x 12 frame or smaller. Open the buckets of paint, and dip each side of the picture frame in to the various colors. When this is finished, you should have a frame with 4 unique-colored sides. At this point, hang up the picture frame by wire and let it drip-dry. Come back after a few hours and you should have a crazy looking frame with full-bodied color. The great thing about this idea is you’re left with the dripping paint look, and the drips are draped over the others colors. Personally, I highly recommend hanging up the wet frame with the brighter colors on top so they can drip down and dry over top of darker colors. The second idea also uses paint, but with a twist. Grab your paint brush and your favorite color, then paint the entire frame that single color. Once this first coat is permitted to dry, get your next-in-line favorite color and paint only the corner sections of the picture frame. Allow this to dry as well, then take the 3rd color and paint 4 lines directly in the middle of each frame side. With the 4th and last color of paint, put a small dot within the dried squares that you coated with your second favorite color. This will leave you with a very symmetrical design and will look more professional than our other projects. Experiment with this one to your liking, different combinations of colors have many kinds of effects. Personally I like to use either all-dark colors (blues, blacks, and grays) or all bright colors (reds, yellows, and neon green) because they pop more. In the end, do whatever you want and I’m sure you’ll be happy with it. Good luck, and keep in mind that everything worth while takes times to create!

Picture Frame Ideas

When it comes to picture frame ideas, you have to be quite creative if you’re gonna have something that both looks awesome and is genuine. Yeah, there are a lot of stores out there advertising common picture frames but those will not stand out in your house. If a picture is special enough to be framed and displayed, it’s definitely special enough to warrant a spectacular frame. I have a couple of good ideas that might get you started or even spark a few ideas so you can have a 100% unique design! First off, for large frames I like to use a sponge-paint method. For this, purchase any color paint that you want but make sure it fits with the background color of the frame. For example, I like to use gold paint on silver backgrounds. The idea here is to bathe the sponge in the paint and then press it lightly against the frame, applying equal pressure in all places. This will leave you with a beautifully coated outer frame that looks rustic and expensive. The trick here is to experiment, so apply your own little twirl to this picture frame idea! You could glue some leaves onto the corners of the frame, giving it that nature look. You could carve shapes into random areas, of even initial it with a pocket knife! There are so many ways to make frames look unique, you just need to get the creative juices running. Another great picture frame idea I had takes a little bit more effort than the sponge model. First, go outside and put the frame up on some sort stand that you don’t  mind getting paint on. Grab a clean paint brush, and select 4 or 5 different colors of paint. Bring this all outside with you and open all the paint pails at once. Now dip the brush into the first bucket and just fling the paint off the tip into the frame. Do this with all the paint you’ve brought outside, then let it dry. When you come back, the wet paint will have streaked down the frame, creating a type of melting effect. This one is my most favorite!
